Best of Tampa: Ybor City, Historic Tampa Bay Hotel and IKEA!
Tampa is as historic as it is modern! Such historic locations surrounded by a modern city! Today we will set out to tour Tampa. Our first stop is the former Tampa Bay Hotel. The 1891 hotel is now a national historic landmark and home to the University of Tampa and the Henry B. Plant museum. The hotel is referred to as Florida’s “first Magic Kingdom.” It features original opulent furnishings and artifacts collected over the years. Enjoy a guided tour of the hotel and grounds, home to the University of Tampa. We will cruise around the Bayshore Blvd area en route to the National Landmark District of Ybor City. Your trip will include a visit to Cuba! Really! We will stop at the Jose Marti Park, the piece of land does not belong to the United States. It is part of the Republic of Cuba! So technically you will visit Cuban soil! We will explore the Old-world charm and fresh feel of Ybor City, built around its cigar factories, and as many stories as shops to tell. And of course we can’t come to Ybor City without visiting a cigar store and see the cigar making process!.There will be ample time for lunch and shopping.
Since we are so close... have you ever been curious to see what IKEA is all about? The IKEA concept is about providing a range of home furnishings and decorations that are AFFORDABLE! We will drop by for a quick look! You will find everything you need for every room of your house, from small (candles, silverware) to huge! (full furnishings!) And you must check out the Swedish Food Market with everything from candy to Swedish meatballs (of course!!) ! Don’t worry, if you see something you have to have that won’t fit on the motorcoach… IKEA will deliver it to your home!
